چکیده

We report the discovery of a new soft gamma repeater (SGR), SGR 1627–41, and present BATSE observations of the burst emission and BeppoSAX NFI observations of the probable persistent Xray counterpart to this SGR. All but one burst spectrum are well fit by an optically thin thermal bremsstrahlung (OTTB) model with kT values between 25 and 35 keV. The spectrum of the X-ray counterpart, SAX J1635.8–4736, is similar to that of other persistent SGR X-ray counterparts. We find weak evidence for a periodic signal at 6.41 s in the light curve for this source. Like other SGRs, this source appears to be associated with a young supernova remnant G337.0–0.1. Based upon the peak luminosities of bursts observed from this SGR, we find a lower limit on the dipole magnetic field of the neutron star Bdipole ∼> 5 × 10 14 Gauss.

XMM-Newton observations of the Soft Gamma Ray Repeater SGR 1627–41 in a low luminosity state

The sky region containing the soft gamma-ray repeater SGR 1627–41 has been observed three times with XMM-Newton in February and September 2004. SGR 1627–41 has been detected with an absorbed flux of ∼9×10 erg cm s (2-10 keV). For a distance of 11 kpc, this corresponds to a luminosity of ∼3×10 erg s, the smallest ever observed for a Soft Gamma Repeater and possibly related to the long period of ...

XMM-Newton observation of the Soft Gamma Ray Repeater SGR 1627–41 in a low luminosity state

The sky region containing the soft gamma-ray repeater SGR 1627–41 and the hard X-ray transient IGR J16358–4726 has been observed with XMM-Newton in September 2004. SGR 1627–41 has been detected with an absorbed flux of ∼9×10 erg cm s (2-10 keV), slightly smaller than that seen with Chandra in 2001-2003. For a distance of 11 kpc, this corresponds to a luminosity of ∼3×10 erg s, the smallest ever...

Precise Localization of the Soft Gamma Repeater SGR 1627−41 and the Anomalous X-ray Pulsar AXP 1E1841−045 with Chandra

We present precise localizations of AXP 1E1841−045 and SGR 1627−41 with Chandra. We obtained new infrared observations of SGR 1627−41 and reanalyzed archival observations of AXP 1E1841−045 in order to refine their positions and search for infrared counterparts. A faint source is detected inside the error circle of AXP 1E1841−045. In the case of SGR 1627−41, several sources are located within th...

Spin - down rate and inferred dipole magnetic field of the soft gamma - ray repeater SGR 1627 – 41

Using Chandra data taken on 2008 June, we detected pulsations at 2.594 39(4) s in the soft gamma-ray repeater SGR 1627–41. This is the second measurement of the source spin period and allows us to derive for the first time a long-term spin-down rate of (1.9 ± 0.4) × 10 s s. From this value we infer for SGR 1627–41 a characteristic age of ∼2.2 kyr, a spin-down luminosity of ∼4 × 10 erg s (one of...

Rxte All-sky Monitor Localization of Sgr 1627–41

The fourth unambiguously identified Soft Gamma Repeater (SGR), SGR 1627–41, was discovered with the BATSE instrument on 1998 June 15 (Kouveliotou et al. 1998). Interplanetary Network (IPN) measurements and BATSE data constrained the location of this new SGR to a 6 segment of a narrow (19) annulus (Hurley et al. 1999a; Woods et al. 1998). We present two bursts from this source observed by the Al...
